Repressive Media Laws

21 05 2010

Recently i took part in a survey about the represive media laws in uganda and how journalists are negotiating their survival amidist such laws. This was an eye opener for me especially about the Penal Code act of 1950, the Anti terrorism act of 2002 plus the Acces to information act of 2005. Although all thgese laws do exist, they are inconsistent with article 29 of the constitution of the repulblic of Uganda which highlights the freedom of speech and expression. On the 25th of May the African center of media excellence in Uganda will offically launch the public broadcasting in africa report (Uganda chapter) at Garden city Hotel in the evening. Please you are wellcome.
